Detective Justin Boardman (Fmr.)

Justin Boardman served in the West Valley City Police Department for 15 years, rising from patrol officer to detective with the Special Victims Unit. In his eight years as a patrol officer, he was awarded the Police Star, as well as multiple Life Saving, Distinguished Service, and Meritorious Service Awards.

Tim Heaphy, U.S. Attorney (Fmr.)

Tim Heaphy served as United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia from 2009 to 2015. As U.S. Attorney, Heaphy was responsible for prosecuting federal crime in areas such as national security, financial and health care fraud, international and national organized crime, public corruption, and money laundering.

Undersheriff Darren Ullmann

Darren Ullmann is an Undersheriff with the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office in Washington. He’s been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2001 and has worked patrol, narcotics, training, search and rescue, civil, and court security. His narcotics work focused on methamphetamine enforcement and required the extensive use of confidential informants.

Officer Brian Chapman (Fmr.)

Brian Chapman is a former probation officer with the Dallas County Community Supervision and Corrections Department. Chapman began to doubt the efficacy of the War on Drugs almost immediately after beginning his career.

Officer Jeff Kaufman (Fmr.)

Jeff Kaufman began his criminal-justice career in 1980 as a beat cop for the N.Y.P.D. He was assigned to the 75th Precinct in Brooklyn – one of the busiest in New York City.    

Judge Gordon McAllister (Ret.)

Gordon McAllister spent eight years as a criminal defense lawyer and public defender before beginning a 28-year career as a district court trial judge in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Brian Leininger, Assistant District Attorney (Fmr.)

Brian Leininger started as an Assistant District Attorney in inner-city Kansas City, Kansas. He later became General Legal Counsel to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Brian Leininger is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the NORML Legal Committee.

Dr. Michael Gilbert

Dr. Michael Gilbert has over 20 years of experience working in corrections and criminal justice as a manager, trainer, consultant, and researcher. Dr. Gilbert is a retired professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Texas, San Antonio. He is currently the Executive Director of  National Association of Community and Restorative Justice.

Officer Patrick Heintz (Ret.)

Patrick Heintz has worked with incarcerated populations for over 20 years. Beginning as a child care worker in a maximum security Department of Youth Services facility, he spent the majority of his career at the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department as a counselor and corrections officer.

Dr. Nina Graves

Nina Graves is a former Military Police Officer, Army Reservist, Federal Police Officer, Police Chief, and Federal Agency Division Chief.  She resides in Washington D.C.

Officer Teri Moore (Fmr.)

Teri Moore is a former Police Officer and Drug Recognition Expert Instructor with the Los Angeles Police Department. Moore also served as a First Lieutenant with the Military Police.

David Brown, Assistant City Prosecutor (Fmr.)

David Brown served as an Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Baton Rouge from 2009 to 2013. David is an alumnus of Vermont Law School. He also received an advanced degree in plant biology and environmental studies at Louisiana State University.
